Suburban SW6DEL RV Propane & 120V Hot Water Heater – 6 Gal. Tank An RV hot water heater allows you to have a hot water for a shower and for washing dishes while traveling. RV water heaters don’t give you the amount of hot water you might be used to at home, but it does give you the luxury of limited hot water while camping. Propane This water heater can be used on propane or electric, or a combination of both for a faster recovery rate. When using LP Gas, a propane-fired burner routes heat through a passage in the tank, transferring the heat to the water. When using the electric option, a 120V AC heating element heats the water similar to a residential water heater. This is an automatic spark model, known as a direct spark ignition (DSI). All that is necessary is to make sure the heater is full of water and then flip the switch. This feature requires a 12V DC connection to power the control board and igniter. Porcelain Lined Steel Tank The steel, porcelain-lined tanks provide long life under varying water conditions. This same construction is what is used for the majority of residential water heaters. With steel tanks, an anode rod is necessary to prolong the life of the water heater. The tank has an insulation jacket specially formed to fit the tank for additional heat retention.
